Following the launch of the National Maternity Review Better Births report, we held a Better Births in the South West event on Tuesday 13th September 2016, at Taunton Racecourse. We invited all stakeholders in maternity services across the South West to join us in determining how we will meet the report’s recommendations over the next five years, which fall under the following categories:
• Personalised care
• Continuity of carer
• Safer care
• Better postnatal and perinatal mental health
• Multi-professional working
• Working across boundaries
• Reformed payment system
We were pleased to announce that our keynote speaker was Professor Sir Cyril Chantler, Vice Chair of the National Maternity Review, as well as Dr Suzanne Tyler, Royal College of Midwives Director for Services to Members, who addressed workforce issues.
